This relates more to the works we just finished ("The Bell Jar" & "The Yellow Wallpaper"), but it's an interesting article nonetheless about how people, especially women, are often manipulated into thinking that their feelings & reactions aren't valid or "sane": http://thecurrentconscience.com/blog/2011/09/12/a-message-to-women-from-a-man-you-are-not-%E2%80%9Ccrazy%E2%80%9D/
ReplyDeleteI recommend reading the rest of this guy's posts about women's issues on this blog as well. He discusses them from a thoughtful, articulate, and unapologetic perspective, which is rare with male writers, and is very good at making them accessible to men/people who haven't experienced the problems of patriarchy firsthand and might not really understand them or get what the "big deal" is.
ReplyDeleteHere's the rap that I shared with the class for minutes today, Angel Haze's uncensored and raw rendition of Eminem's "Cleanin Out My Closet."
