Reading HW:
HW: Please complete a brief letter to me for today.  In it, I'd like you to tell me a bit about yourself including your history as an English student, a quotation that you like and why, and if you had an extra hour a day, how would you use it and why (please avoid simplistic answers like "I would sleep")?  Letters should be double-spaced.  If typed, please use 12 point Times New Roman font.

Monday September 9th
Reading HW: "Hills Like White Elephants" by Ernest Hemingway
HW: Please print a copy of the reading for class today.  Create a name placard for class as well.

Tuesday September 10th

HW: What makes a successful notebook?  I'd like you to write at least six full sentences exploring some strategies for taking notes in an English class.  Let's set a standard for the semester.  How should you take notes?  What should you take notes on?

HW: From each, choose (underline/mark) one moment that seemed especially memorable or that reminded you of something in your own life or resonated with you in some way.
