HW: How would you characterize the protagonist of this story? Can you relate to the protagonist in any way? What is the significance of the phrase "Action must be taken"?

Reading HW: "The Bound Man" by Ilse Aichinger
HW: Are the bound man's ropes as handicap or a strength? Please explain why. What changes in the bound man's life when his ropes come off? What are some ways in which we are bound in our lives? What would our lives be like if our bounds came off?

HW: How does Gregor Samsa react to his strange transformation? Please compare the beginning of this story to the beginning of Aichinger's "The Bound Man". What is Gregor's job? Why does he work this particular job?

I like sarcastic comics and the idea of Reddit, although the website's layout is an eyesore. The book Im currently reading is Bel Canto; and by currently reading, I mean I dogeared it about 6 chapters in and have not touched it since December. Yay

DeleteWow. Got goosebumps reading the last paragraph of the story. I'm finding some distinct similarities to our reading tonight. We'll talk more about this tomorrow. Thanks for posting, a great read.
